I attended Oklahoma State Tech for one year, 1959-1960. I joined the U. S. Air Force February 1961. After Tech school I was stationed at Vandenberg A. F. B., California. While in the military I worked as a Missile Electrician. I met and married my wife, Ione Torgerson, while stationed at Vandenberg A.F.B. I was stationed at Edwards A. F. B. the last six months of my enlistment.

We moved to Torrance, California in February 1965 where I worked for Douglas Aircraft. Our two sons were born in Torrance, California. Scott was born in 1968 and Brett in 1970. In 1973 I transferred to McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa, OK. While working for McDonnell Douglas I was a maintenance electronic technician for ten years, a maintenance supervisor for fourteen years, and an electrical designer in facility engineering for six years. McDonnell Douglas closed the plant in Tulsa in 1994. I had 30 years with McDonnell so I retired. I now work for the U.S. Postal Service, as an Electronic Technician.

My wife, Ione, teaches Spanish at Union High School in Tulsa. She has been teaching for 28 years. She is quite the traveler. She has taken students to Europe for the past 10 years. I did manage to go with them one year but that was enough for me.

Our oldest son, Scott, is married and also lives in Tulsa and has one daughter, Whitnie, who was born in 1996. Our son Brett is married and lives in San Diego, CA. He works for Johnson & Johnson as a Pharmaceutical Research Scientist. In June 2001 he received his PhD. in Chemistry from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.

Iím looking forward to retiring from the USPS in a couple of years and plan to play a lot of golf. Maybe I can lower my handicap.
