After graduating from High School, at mid term, I went to work at Merchants National Bank as a Proof Operator. This was the beginning of my career in the financial industry. In 1959 I moved to Tulsa Oklahoma and went to work at Utica Square National Bank in the Proof Department and later was promoted to Head Teller and Assistant Vice President. I worked for them for twelve years. A friend of mine, at the bank, set me up on a blind date with a friend of hers. This is how I met my husband Frank. We were married in May of 1961 and celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary this year.
We moved to Oklahoma City in 1972 and I worked for Liberty National Bank for a year and a half and then Frankís company relocated their offices to Houston where I continued working in the financial industry. I worked for Home Savings Assoc. for 8 years as a Branch Manager and Loan Officer; North American Mortgage Co. for 14 years as a Mortgage Loan Underwriter and a VP of Quality Services Department. In May of 1994 my department was closed. Our youngest daughter was getting married in October and so I thought I would wait until the wedding was over and then look for a job. I havenít worked in the financial industry since.
I am involved in several ladies activities which include Two Red Hat groups, two Bunco groups, a Tri City Ladies Club and a ladies Bible study at our church.
We have two daughters. Susan was born in 1963 and Janet born in 1971. Susan is a first grade teacher married to Chris and has two sons, Christopher who just turned 20, and Jonathan 16. Janet works for Chevron and is married to Jason and has two sons, Brayden 5 and Carter 2. We are so blessed to have our girls living within 30 minutes of us. We love being able to share in their lives.
We have had lots of soccer, baseball, and football games with the older boys and now we get to start all over again with the younger boys. They bring so much joy to us, especially the younger ones right now.
Frank retired in 1998 and we have enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. In August of 2007 his company called and begged him to come back to work and he agreed. We were fortunate this summer to take two trips. In June we spent a week in Hawaii and in August we took a cruise with some of Frankís High School friends, The Nifty Fifty Group. Twenty-one of us sailed out of New York City to St. John and Halifax Nova Scotia.
Thanks to the reunion committee for all their hard work putting this event together. I canít wait to see everyone.
