After graduation from Ft. Smith High School, I attended Sparks School of Nursing and graduated in 1961. I continued my education in Health Care Administration at St. Joseph’s College in North Windham, Maine. I moved to Tulsa, OK, where I worked for 33 years at Hillcrest Medical Center as Administrative Director for Cardiology. After retiring, in 1994, I went to work for Oklahoma Heart Institute and worked as their Compliance Officer till I retired again in 2003.
I met my loving husband in Tulsa and married in 1964. We shared 41 years together until his death in 2005. We had three beautiful children and were very involved in Athletics, Band and Church with each of them. How very fast it seemed to go. My children are Carl, an Engineer with Black and Vetch in Overland Park, Ks, and Cathy Rhodes, a stay at home mom in Rogers, AR. Our son, Steven, died in 1999 after a long illness.
After reading Roy Fisk’s Bio, it reminded me of the times at Southside Baptist and all our youth activities. The fond memories we have of those years are great.
After my husband’s death, I sold my place in Broken Arrow and moved to Rogers, AR, to be close to my daughter, her husband and three of my four grandchildren. I spend my time playing with the kids, working in my church and traveling. I have spent a lot of time doing mission work (Medical and Teaching) in Ethiopia over the last three years. I had the opportunity to work in China last year and still have a longing to go back there. My husband and I loved to travel, snow ski, hike and bike, mostly in Colorado. We also loved to spend time on the beaches of Hawaii. We spent many long hours watching sunrises and sunsets from many locations in the islands. That is where I will be at the time of the reunion. I will think fondly of FSHS as I read and write, and spend time in the Spa, as the reunion takes place.
