As most friends who grew up with me know, I was born in St. Louis, MO. And stayed until my father was killed in a motorcycle accident when I was six years old.
My mother came back to her hometown, Ft. smith, met and married my stepfather. He catered to my great love of horses and we owned six quarter horses that took me to horse shows, rodeoing and barrel racing for many years.
After Paul and I married, I gave up the horses (much to his approval) and I became the “happy home maker mom” that carried me along for the next 40 years.
We have one wonderful talented daughter, Deby, who is married and lives in Fayetteville. “Close enough to visit, but too far for you to drop-in” quote the daughter!
Paul and I moved to Van Buren in 1991, and it was like a foreign country to us. (Besides, there was always that high school rivalry between the Grizzlies and the Dogs.) But, we really like it now. Paul’s quote, “We can move anyplace but on a hill or to Van Buren”, which is exactly where we went, will go down in history!
We have an acre and ˝ that I love to take care of. Our agreement is, he keeps the equipment in running order and the Border Collie and I will take care of the yard.
I did local theatre from 1975 to 1989, made a few small movies (nothing anyone has heard of), made some local TV commercials, had a blast and gave it up.
Retirement from dental assistant (me) and Central Mall (him) agrees with both of us. Only we’re so busy now, we don’t know how we had time to work.
And there you have it! Hope we have at least 25 more years to see what life has in store for us.
