I have been back in Fort Smith for the last five years. I was working at the Medical Center in Little Rock when someone from Sparks Hospital called and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I love my job. I am Community Education Officer at Sparks. I do all of our events and public education.
I also do a lot of volunteering in the community. Just recently was on the committee for Wine and Roses, the big fundraiser for the Cancer Support House here. We made $129,000 - $79.000 of it on the wine auction alone.
We, also, just had our Breast Cancer Survivor Breakfast for survivors in the Fort Smith area and had about 200 women. It was a beautiful event. I discovered that the Harp's Food Lady was a survivor and asked her to speak. She was wonderful.
I get back East to Washington, DC to see my two sons and their families often. My grandchildren will be one, two, three and four this year. The one year old is a girl and will be spoiled by the older boys.
I spent Christmas in Costa Rica with my older son and his family and will vacation in Vermont this summer at a "family camp" with my younger son and his family.
My mother passed away shortly after I moved back here and I was glad I could be here for my dad. He had a rough time but is doing well now. He will be 88 this summer, still plays golf three times a week and works out at the fitness center. He calls it pumping iron.
I would love to hear from classmates.
